Dar Guzeppa Debono in collaboration with the Gozo College Girls Secondary School is currently implementing a project entitled ‘LWIEN’ which is part-financed by the European Social Funds. The project will offer young adolescents who have emotional challenging behaviour, and/or are single mothers between 14 and 18 years of age, the opportunity of participating in accredited courses with the aim of instilling a process of reflexivity and take a critical stance towards life’s challenges. The project aims at engaging this target audience in a generative process of their potentials that will eventually lead to new lifestyles and better employment opportunities.
On Tuesday 15th May 2012 Dar Guzeppa Debono organized the closing of the project ‘The Value of Life’ in which all Form III students that belong to the secondary schools of Gozo took part together with the Form IV students of the Saint Monica School of Birkirkara. The celebration began with a walk from the beginning of the road leading to the Ta’ Pinu Sanctuary to the sanctuary itself. The walk was named ‘The Walk of Life’. Along the walk, there were nine consecutive stops in commemorating the nine months of a baby in its mother’s womb.
Though the weather was not promising, Dar Ġużeppa Debono celebrated Pro-Life Day as planned with a symbolic walk towards Ta’ Pinu Sanctuary on Sunday 5 February 2012. During the walk various reflections on life were read and at various points the crowd stopped to reflect as these moments were animated choreographically by the young students of the Central Academy of Dance from the Gozo School of Drama.
